This semester, I have the wonderful opportunity to study abroad in Queensland, Australia specifically in the lovely city of Townsville. We are in the wet tropics, but it doesn’t ever rain here, keeping up Townsville’s reputation of “300 days of sun per year”. Since I’ve been here, I’ve seen lots of incredible sights including furry animals and tall mountains. Since the culture is similar to that of America, I sometimes find it difficult to realize that I am on the other side of the world. But sometimes I hear a “How are you going?” or “G’day,” and I am reminded just how far away from home I am. Except I have found a new sense of community since I have been here. If Allegheny is my second home, I am positive that I have found a third home in Australia and at James Cook University.
